Sweet Escape 5K Sweet Escape 1M Fun Run/Walk

The Sweet Escape 5K is a fundraiser for the South Carolina Youth Diabetes Association (SCYDA). Every summer SCYDA hosts a camp, Camp Sweet Escape, which serves children with Type 1 Diabetes (and their siblings/friends) in the tri-state area. Camp was created to allow Type 1 children the ability to enjoy a normal summer camp experience surrounded by others with Type 1 while promoting diabetes education and ensuring their safety. Each session campers are surrounded by a team of counselors (many who are Type 1 as well), doctors, nurses, and other medical staff. Many of our campers are the only Type 1 Diabetic in their family, school or community so these sessions provide instant connections and build life-long bonds. CSE sessions typically serve over 100 campers each summer. 
 
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been difficult for non-profit organizations to secure donations. Funds raised by the Sweet Escape 5K will directly benefit CSE.
 
The run will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, starting at 8:00 AM at the Jenkins County Courthouse - 611 E Winthrope Ave, Millen, GA 30442. 

Registration starts at 7:00 AM
8:00 AM – 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk ($15 early registration; $20 day-of-race registration) 
8:30 AM – 5K Run ($25 early registration; $30 day-of-race registration) 
**REGISTRATIONS after January 31st, 2023 are NOT guaranteed a t-shirt**
