Sole Mates is a celebration of health and fitness and is coming back for another year! There's no better way to celebrate than with friends and family. So grab your running buddy and get to the starting line!
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (a nonprofit service organization) is joining us to support Soles4Souls's global mission to wear out poverty in developing countries by providing gently worn or new shoes. A new pair of shoes provides relief in many developing nations around the globe, in times of disaster, and helps bridge the economic gap in the United States and Canada. Soles 4 Souls - Wearing Out Poverty will be collecting shoe donations on race day, so please bring out any new or gently-used shoes with you to help support their mission.Â
Participants can choose to run the race individually (as usual) or they can team up with a partner (separate awards for both categories!). Instead of placing by their individual race times, partners will instead place by their combined times. Run together and win together! We might call it "Sole Mates" but it doesn't matter if you pair up with your spouse, kids, significant other, best buddy, or neighbor.
All finishers will receive a Sole Mates medal and finishers gift guaranteed if registered by February 9th.

The Sole Mates Virtual 6.5 Mile - Doubles, taking place on February 10, 2024, in Cary, NC, is a unique running event designed for pairs. While specific race history details are not provided, the "Virtual" designation indicates that participants can complete the 6.5-mile distance from their chosen location, offering flexibility to runners. The "Doubles" aspect strongly suggests this event is a team-based challenge, where participants likely run together or in conjunction with a partner to achieve a combined distance or score. Participants should anticipate a focus on partnership and shared achievement over a 6.5-mile course, which can be run anywhere that suits them. Given the Cary, NC location as a reference point, one might expect the terrain to generally be varied, potentially including paved paths, greenways, or park trails common in the area, though this is dependent on individual virtual course selection. The event type classification of "6" is not standard and its meaning is unclear without further context. Notable features likely revolve around the camaraderie of running with a "sole mate" and the convenience of a virtual format, allowing for participation regardless of geographical constraints, with an emphasis on completing a 6.5-mile distance as a pair.
