This run/walk is bigger than just another 5k. It is a run with deep purpose. 100% of the profits will go towards sending us to Honduras and fulfilling the medical needs of the people there!
Hello everyone! My name is Ella Biasillo and I am a Fundraising Chair for the James Madison University chapter of Global Medical Brigades!
Global Medical Brigades is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization that connects peoples in developing nations to healthcare through establishment of clinics, facilities, and resources.
This year, a chapter of global medical brigades was created by Elizabeth Manning and Kayci Carrier, now our President and Vice President. The executive council has been working from the ground up to give this organization a successful and strong foundation. The purpose of this organization on college campuses is to conduct brigades and collect supplies to serve the respective communities in one of four countries GMB collaborates with. While we are brand new, our goal is nothing short of BIG! Our mission is to send 40 people on a week long brigade to Honduras in order to volunteer and serve in the community through medical care. To achieve this mission, each individual must come up with $2200 plus bring the required supplies needed to help us serve. With that being said, we have been working hard to fundraise in order to achieve this financial goal considering we started this year both late (took a little bit to become JMU recognized) and with nothing.Â
Again, this run/walk is bigger than just another 5k. It is a run with deep purpose. 100% of the profits will go towards sending us to Honduras and fulfilling the medical needs of the people there!
Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
Ella Biasillo, Fundraising Chair of JMU Global Medical Brigades
