2023 Black Bear Scamper 5K & Bear Cub Fun Run, Presented by Little Arrow
Are you ready to race? Join us for the second annual Black Bear Scamper 5K and Bear Cub Fun Run! Townsend, Tennessee (The Peaceful Side of the Smokies!) is the perfect site for a 5K run or a 1 mile fun run/walk with neverending views of the Smoky Mountains and southern hospitality for days. Get ready to sweat, connect, and crush some run goals with us on the Peaceful Side of the Smokies!
Starting at 9:00am at the Townsend Visitors Center, runners and walkers will head out for a 5K (3.1 mile) or 1 mile fun run, and there might even be a (costumed, never fear!) black bear sighting or two along the way!
Your support and participation is important to us. The Black Bear Scamper and Bear Cub Fun Run benefits Blount County Boys Lacrosse Middle and High School. A new sport in a rural area is tough to get started - help these kids play a sport they love, while keeping them healthy and building character. The Blount County Bulldogs Lacrosse team is made up of boys from all of the schools in Blount County, TN. You'll see the boys out on the course volunteering, handing out water at the aid station, and probably clowning around with lacrosse sticks (do those things have an official name?) while you're working hard running!
CASH PRIZES (!) will be awarded to the top female and male runners in the 5K, in both open (under 40) and masters (40+) categories, and we'll have lots of other prizes from our fantastic sponsors including tasty treats from the three distilleries! All runners will receive a one-of-a-kind super soft t-shirt, and finishers earn a medal too! And so we can include everyone in the fun, we'll hold a drawing before the race so that everyone has a shot at some of the cool prizes from our sponsors. Our title sponsor is Little Arrow Resort so you know the prizes are going to be good!
