What to expect

Written from race data

The Bahia Shrine 5K Camel Walk/Run and One Mile Walk/Run, held annually in Apopka, FL on April 1st, is a family-friendly event designed for participants of all fitness levels. This race has a history of supporting the Shriners Hospitals for Children, making it a charitable and community-focused occasion. Participants can anticipate a well-organized event with a welcoming atmosphere, suitable for both seasoned runners and those looking for a leisurely walk. The proceeds from the event directly contribute to the vital work of the Shriners. The typical terrain for the Bahia Shrine 5K and One Mile events is generally flat and paved, often taking place on local roads and potentially within a park setting. This makes it an accessible course for strollers, wheelchairs, and beginner participants. Runners and walkers should expect typical Florida spring weather conditions, which can range from mild and pleasant to warm and humid. Hydration stations are usually provided along the course to ensure participants stay comfortable. A notable feature of this race is the inclusion of both a 5K and a shorter one-mile option, catering to a broader range of ages and abilities, and the overall festive and supportive environment created by the Shriners and their volunteers.
