About this race
On Saturday, April 22nd the Owensboro Police Department will host our 8th annual Run From the Cops 5K run/walk. Â The event is open to runners and walkers of all skill levels. Â Costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded for best dressed. Â Proceeds from the event go to our specialty units, The D.A.R.E program and Camp K.O.P.S. (Kids Obtaining Positive Structure). Â
Overall Male and Female awards, plus age group awards for 14-under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
The 5K race is followed by our annual Police Awareness day which will be held at the Owensboro Police Department from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Â We will display a variety of police units and equipment and will also include K-9 demonstrations and a tour of the department. There will also be a bike rodeo, corn hole and other activities for kids. Â Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided. Â We hope to interact with the public during this event during and after the run.Â
