We are excited to announce a new spring trail run happening at the Horry County Bike and Run Park (The Hulk). The Apex Trail Run will be a 5K (run or walk), a 10K (run only) event and a new 12 hour ultra run laps challenge. For this event we will have a competitive heat and a non competitive heat for the 5K so that we allow the faster people to get out on the trail earlier. Registration for this event will be capped at 300 runners and we fully expect for the race to sell out prior to race day as this is a very popular trial and the most unique running experience in all of Horry County. The 12 hour ultra race will start with the 10K heat at 7:50am and will continue running 10K/6.2mile laps of the trial until the 7:50pm cut off time. The overall winner of the race is the person completing the most laps in the shortest time. We will give away 1st, 2nd, 3rd place awards for both male and female categories. Each runner must start their last lap by 7:15pm.Â
The trails are beginner friendly at slower paces or walking but also provide a unique challenge and a fun trail experience. All participants will receive a swag item, an Apex Promoz buff/head wrap as well as a custom finisher’s medal.

The Apex Trail Run, presented by The Greg Sisson Team, is a competitive 5K trail race held annually in Myrtle Beach, SC. This event is designed for runners aiming to complete the 5K distance in under 30 minutes, with an average pace of 9:40 per mile. While specific historical details about the race's inception are not provided, the "Event Type: 6" designation suggests a recurring and established event within the running community. Participants can expect a challenging yet rewarding trail experience. The course is situated in Myrtle Beach, implying a likely mix of natural terrain. Given the competitive nature and the trail designation, runners should anticipate uneven surfaces, potential elevation changes, and perhaps some sandy or root-filled sections common to coastal trails. The conditions in late April in Myrtle Beach are generally pleasant, though runners should be prepared for variable weather, including humidity and potential sunshine. The "Competitive 5K Trail Run (Under 30 Minutes-9:40/mile)" strongly emphasizes a fast-paced, performance-oriented event, attracting serious trail runners looking to test their speed and endurance.
