In the wee hours of the morning on Valentine’s Day, the majority council for the Town of Summerfield voted to let Scott Whitaker’s contract expire, thus depriving him of his severance that every town manager depends on in the event a council decides to fire them. His severance included a year’s salary and insurance. His wife, Emily Sarah Lineback, is fighting cancer and will not be finished with her treatments until the end of the year. They will lose their insurance months before her treatments will be finished.

Since the majority council immediately employed an attorney to fight having to give Scott his severance, Scott was forced to hire one as well. If he ends up receiving the money he is due from the town, he will have to give 1/3 of it to his attorney.

This fund raiser is to help them cover their legal fees, medical bills, and insurance premiums so they can continue to have coverage for Emily Sarah’s cancer battle.

Scott has faithfully served the town as manager for 12 years and deserves our support and help. Please help us honor his family by either signing up for the race or donating towards this cause.
