Join us on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024 for the Huckleberry Jam presented by Skip Slocum & Associates, Roots Realty Group! The Huckleberry Jam offers two race distance options - 8.1 miles and 1.75 miles. Both race distances are point-to-point courses finishing at the Christiansburg Rec Center. For a fee, shuttles will be available to transport runners back to RunAbout Sports upon completion.

The 8.1 mile race begins at RunAbout Sports and utilizes the entire length of the Huckleberry Trail. Two aid stations will provide water and Gatorade along the way. The 1.75 Mile race starts at the New River Valley Mall at the Huckleberry Trail gate by the Kohl's store.

RunAbout Sports will be donating all net proceeds to the Friends of the Huckleberry Trail. The group uses 100% of donations and funding for the engineering and construction of the Huckleberry Trail and the amenities along the trail.
All runners who finish either race earn a rail-road spike finisher award.

AI Overview

The Huckleberry Jam Point-To-Point 1.75 Miler is a unique and family-friendly running event taking place on June 2, 2024, in Blacksburg, VA. This race, a short and accessible distance, is designed for all ages and abilities, encouraging community participation. While specific historical details of the race are not provided, its inclusion in an event of this nature often signifies a celebration of local trails and outdoor activity. Participants can expect a straightforward, single-mile out-and-back course, making it ideal for beginners, children, or those looking for a relaxed run. The "ride back to start" feature is a notable convenience, eliminating the need for transportation logistics after the race and allowing runners to enjoy the experience fully. The typical terrain for this event in the Blacksburg area is likely to be a mix of well-maintained trails and potentially some unpaved paths, characteristic of the Huckleberry Trail system. Runners should anticipate a generally moderate incline or decline rather than steep ascents or technical descents, given the 1.75-mile distance and family-friendly nature. Conditions on race day in early June can vary, but often offer pleasant spring weather, though participants should be prepared for potential humidity and prepare accordingly. The low mileage and focus on community make this event more about enjoying the atmosphere and the local landscape than a highly competitive race.
