Ricky Moyer loved many things in life, including farming, weight-lifting (all exercise really) and practicing law. He was a devoted husband and father with countless friends in each of these industries. Always putting others before himself, he was generous, kind and always quick to offer words of wisdom. Over the years Rick competed in dozens of 5K races, often with his family in town. With his favorite season upon us, we are choosing to honor Rick’s legacy featuring his very favorite event - a Pump & Run and 5K walk/run. As he would often say to family and friends in regards to these friendly physical competitions - “pain is weakness leaving the body.”
Our goal remains the same and we look forward to giving out our first scholarship to any Clinton County student interested in furthering their education in Agriculture, Criminal Justice or History.
The 4th Annual Rick Moyer Legacy Foundation Pump n Run/5K Pump n Run, scheduled for June 8, 2024, in Wilmington, OH, is a unique fundraising event designed to honor the legacy of Rick Moyer. This race offers two distinct experiences: a traditional 5K run for all ages and a "Pump n Run" format which challenges participants to complete a series of strength exercises (pumps) before or during their run. This event has grown into an annual tradition, raising vital funds for the Rick Moyer Legacy Foundation, which supports various charitable causes. Participants can expect a community-focused atmosphere with a course that winds through Wilmington, OH. The terrain is typically characterized as a mixture of paved roads and potentially some park trails, offering a generally flat to gently rolling course suitable for runners of all levels. The "Pump n Run" element adds a distinct strategic and physical challenge, requiring participants to balance their cardiovascular effort with their strength training. While specific details of the strength exercises can vary, they are designed to be accessible yet demanding. This race stands out for its dual format, catering to both pure runners and those looking for a more comprehensive fitness challenge, all in support of a meaningful cause.
