The Baystate Children’s Hospital Davis Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Family and Friends 5k/10k Run/ 1 Mile Walk is a local event held to raise awareness for the current and former patients of the NICU. Along with general community awareness, there are many developmental and comfort care items that are vital for babies’ overall health care maintenance that our NICU would benefit from. Please help by donating to this cause, and either running or walking in our race!

What to expect

Written from race data

The Baystate NICU Family and Friends 5k/10k/Walk 10k is an annual event held in Wilbraham, MA, on June 9, 2024, dedicated to supporting the Baystate Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). While specific historical details of the race's founding aren't provided, it's designed as a community-focused event to raise awareness and funds for NICU families. Participants can choose between a 5k run/walk, a 10k run, or a 10k walk. This event is open to all ages and abilities, making it an inclusive opportunity for families and friends to come together for a worthy cause. Participants can expect a scenic and generally flat course, typical of road races in the New England area. The terrain is primarily paved roads, making it suitable for runners, walkers, and stroller-pushers. The weather in early June in Massachusetts can vary, but generally offers mild temperatures, though participants should be prepared for potential humidity or sunshine. The atmosphere is expected to be supportive and celebratory, with a strong community spirit as people gather to honor and support NICU experiences. While no specific awards or competitive divisions are mentioned, the primary focus is on participation, fundraising, and community engagement.
