The Towpath Twilight event offers runners a unique twilight racing experience along Cleveland's scenic Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. While this year's event is on June 14, 2024, in Cleveland, OH, the "Twilight" aspect typically means races start in the late afternoon or early evening, allowing participants to enjoy cooler temperatures and beautiful sunset views. The event caters to a range of abilities with its 10-miler, 10K, and 5K distances, and also features a 10-mile VIRTUAL option for those who cannot attend in person. Participants can expect a well-organized event on a primarily flat and paved or fine-gravel towpath. The terrain is generally smooth, making it ideal for achieving personal bests, though the paved sections can be susceptible to heat build-up in June. Being a trail race, especially as dusk approaches, runners should be prepared for varying light conditions and potentially uneven surfaces in some areas. Notable features often include a festive atmosphere, post-race amenities, and the distinct charm of running through a historic and revitalized urban parkland as daylight fades.
