FUN STUFF
Remember to wear your best lobster attire and be entered into our "lobster lover lottery". On race day wear your lobster outfit and fill out a ticket at the check-in table! You may just win a fun prize!!
The entire event is made possible by the generosity of local business and individuals, and race day would not be a success with the countless volunteers! No one is paid, money raised is donated. THANK YOU!
FUNDRAISING
Create a fundraiser page! The top fundraising team and individual fundraiser will be recognized. Find this info under the "donate" tab in the race main menu. Fundraising will close two weeks prior to the event to allow time for awards to be ordered.
HONOR & REMEMBER
This is YOUR weekend to honor or remember your loved one as we've all been touched by cancer in some way. Let's come together and support one another while giving back to non-profit organizations who have helped us through difficult times. Be sure to make a poster to honor/remember your loved one. We will have them along the course if they are turned into Jonesboro Grange by June 21, 2024.
WHY CRUSH CANCER?
The Crush Cancer 5k race was created by siblings, Rebekah Hodgson & Andrew Cox, and hosted by Jonesboro Grange #357, after their father was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Watching John, their father, go through chemo treatments really opened their hearts to what others face every day. A benefit for John was unable to be held due to the pandemic and John would give you his last dollar before wanting any fundraising to be done for him. So in his spirit of giving, the race is held to honor and rem
The 2024 Crush Cancer Lobster Crawl 5k LOCAL PICKUP - VIRTUAL PARTICIPANT event offers a unique opportunity to support cancer research and treatment while engaging in a fun, community-driven race. This event, held on June 22, 2024, in Jonesboro, ME, distinguishes itself by combining a virtual participation option with a local pickup component for race materials. While specific historical details about the Lobster Crawl's founding are not provided, the "Crush Cancer" moniker strongly suggests a philanthropic focus, with proceeds likely benefiting cancer-related causes. Participants in this virtual race can expect to receive their race packet locally in Jonesboro, allowing them to participate from anywhere while still connecting with the event's spirit. The typical terrain for a 5k in Maine, especially near the coast like Jonesboro, often includes a mix of paved roads, perhaps some gravel paths, and potentially rolling hills. Runners should anticipate varied weather conditions common to late June in New England, which can range from warm and sunny to cool and damp. A notable feature of this event is its hybrid format, catering to both local participants who can pick up their gear and those participating virtually, demonstrating flexibility and a broad reach. The "Lobster Crawl" theme hints at a fun, perhaps coastal-themed atmosphere, making it more than just a race but an engaging community experience dedicated to a vital cause.
