Run For The Paws Run For The Paws 1 mile

Run For The Paws 5k and 1 mile run benefits the animals at the Wellington Humane Society. The Wellington Humane Society is 501(c) non-profit that serves Sumner County, Kansas. We are a no kill shelter that opened to the public in December 2019. Our mission is to take in unwanted animals and find them loving, permanent homes. We receive no city or county funding, and rely solely on donations to care for the animals at our shelter. All proceeds from this run goes towards providing food and medical care for those currently living at the shelter while they await their forever home. 

The 5k will begin at 7:30am and the 1 mile will begin at 8:30am on June 22, 2024 Both races will be held at the Wellington Humane Society, 203 W Hillside. Course will be a mix of road, gravel, and sidewalk. Drawstring bags will be guaranteed to those who pre-register by 12:00pm (noon) on May 22nd. Packets can be picked up at the Wellington Humane Society on Thursday and Friday June 20-21st from 3-7pm, or on race day beginning at 6:30am. Finisher medals will be awarded to all participants and trophies given to top male and top female in the 5k. Post race refreshments will be provided for both races and there will be 1 aid station at the halfway point for the 5k. 

Dogs are welcome to join but must be up to date on vaccinations, non-aggressive, and leashed at all times. 

The virtual option allows you to participate if you can't make it to the race. Virtual participants are not eligible for overall awards. Packets will be shipped no later than June 30th.
