Independence Freedom Day 5k/ Down Hill Mile Down Hill Mile

NEW COURSE ALERT! DUE TO THE GROWING POPULARITY OF THE CELEBRATION IN TOWN, WE'VE DECIDED TO AVOID THE UPTOWN SECTION. Join Grayson County Parks and Recreation and Blue Devil Cross country boosters for our 10th annual 5k on July 4, 2024.The 5k course is rated at medium/hard with some hills.  The downhill mile is super fast! This race is a separate  competitive race for all ages. The mile will be run before the 5k. The course in on a slight downhill sure to produce some fast times. Registration for the 5k or down hill mile  is $25 or register for both races for $30!

7:00-7:45 Race day registration

8:00-5k

10:00- Independence Parade

5k Race Course: The race will begin in the GCHS parking lot…take a right onto Main st…..left onto Grayson Ave….Right onto Powerhouse RD- stay straight and enter trail the leads to Grayson Rec. Pool.  Go through pool parking lot and turn right onto county park lane. Take the first right into the lower field parking area. Follow cones to industrial park lane. Turn right onto the sidewalk(main street) and return to school . 

Down hill mile- Starting Line- sidewalk in front of Carter National Bank ( main st.) stay straight on sidewalk to Grayson Industrial park to finish! 100 percent down hill!
