About this race
Join us in beautiful Essex-by-the-Lake for our annual "Spark-tacular" 6.5K Firecracker Run benefiting High Peaks Hospice.
This 6.5 K race starts at Lake Champlain Yoga & Wellness, just north of the ferry dock in the bucolic town of Essex. The course begins on a long, dirt road (Blockhouse), where you may see some cows, sheep, or even a llama or two. After Blockhouse Road, runners turn left onto Middle Road, where you may, again, see more farm animals and even catch a glimpse of the Adirondacks in the distance. One more turn left brings runners downhill towards the hamlet of Essex (the entire hamlet is on the National Historic Register), where the race concludes in front of the old fire station.
After the race, hang out in town and enjoy an old-fashioned Fourth of July Parade with a bite to eat and drink and perhaps some shopping. There will also be a children's fun run around Beggs Park.
