The SARR Freedom Day Run-4-Miler, 2-Miler & Li'l Firecrackers Kids Run is a well-established San Antonio tradition, typically held on July 4th. This event, now in its virtual 4-Miler iteration, has a history of celebrating Independence Day with community running. Participants can expect a festive atmosphere, often incorporating patriotic themes, and a chance to get active with friends and family. The event historically caters to various fitness levels with multiple distances, including a dedicated kids' race, fostering a family-friendly environment. While this year's 4-Miler is virtual, past in-person events have been known to take place on relatively flat and paved terrain, often utilizing local parks or trails in the San Antonio area. This generally makes for a fast and accessible course. The typical weather conditions on July 4th in San Antonio are hot and humid, so participants, whether virtual or in person, should be prepared for warm temperatures. The notable feature of this race is its consistent commitment to being a community-focused, Independence Day celebration, offering a healthy and fun way to kick off the holiday.
