Runway 5K Jimmy Stewart Airport 5k Virtual Event

Let your running take flight with this fun 5K at the Jimmy Stewart Airport and yes, Run the Runway!  Start the day early with us and see planes and helicopters of all sorts stationed around as you run the fairly flat course.  This year the course will be a little different as there is some construction on the taxiway. So lace up for a great new route on the runway! 

Athletes registered online by June 30, 2024 are guaranteed a race t-shirt. Some shirts may be available on race day - first come (check-in) basis. 

Official timing by Dave Mapes Timing.  Award for top overall runners (male and female) and awards for TOP racer (male and female) in each age group: 10&U, 11-16, 17-24, 25-30, 31-36, 37-43, 44-49, 50-57, 58-65, 66-73, 74-81, 82+

*Per FAA regulations, all participants (even those in strollers) must be accounted for before departing for the runway race. If you have a non-racer accompanying you, please see the check-in table prior to the race and once again upon completion. 

Also, the government doesn't really like any of the following out on the runway: pets, scooters, bikes, hoverboards, one-wheels, or alike-- so we aren't permitting them. 

Parking is permitted in the front of the terminal building - enter through the terminal and out onto the apron. You'll see us there! 

We know the cause for a 5k is important to our racers and we thank you for this! Profits from the race will support the Innovative Aviation Student Scholarship Fund. We're promoting youth in Indiana County to explore careers in Aviation. This isn't just flying (although that is certainly part of it!). There are many positions to make aviation work and we want students to get a first-hand look at these roles: aviation mechanics, avionics, pilots, flight instructors, airport management, community development, and more! The funds from the scholarship go directly to supporting this mission and provide Indiana County Youth with some funding to explore these options with Innovative Aviation, whether that's as a camper in Aviation Experience, Flight School student, or an intro flight.
