2024 - 11th Annual Race

This race is in memory of Matthew Rairdon, whose life was tragically taken in November 2013. When preparing to go to college, Matt was extremely appreciative to receive a scholarship to attend St. Joseph's College. The intent of this scholarship fund is to help other people who want to pursue a nursing education at St. Joseph's. The first scholarship was awarded in the fall of 2014, and now we award 2 scholarships annually.

We are pleased that we will have an in-person run for our 11th race. Here are the details:

  1. Packet Pickup will be done over 2 evenings, from 4-6 pm on July 11th and 12th at Mr. Bagel in Westbrook.
  2. If you feel ill or have been caring for someone who is ill please transfer your bib to someone else. There are no penalties for this.
  3. Please do not spit or blow your nose into the air along the route or in the park.
  4. We plan to have a water station on the course route this year, and you can feel free to carry your own water if you need to. A Grab-and-Go food box and water will also be provided in the park at the end of the race, as you exit the park.
  5. We will have an awards ceremony in the park after the race.
  6. "Matt's Mile" this year will be a sprint, located in the park. The race is for children age 10 and under and will be split into 2 heats: first 1-5 year olds, and then 6-10 year olds.
  7. We want to celebrate all of the dogs that come to the race every year, so this year we are featuring "Westbrook Strong" dog bandanas - the first 100 get them for $5 each, register for yours today!

We are very excited to announce that this year's charitable gift recipient is Finding Our Voices. Finding Our Voices marshals survivor voices, and community creativity and compassion to finally move the needle on domestic violence in Maine, and bring safety, justice, freedom, and comfort to Maine women and children.  You can learn more about them here: https://findingourvoices.net/

Thank you for 11 years of support - the Rairdon Family very much appreciates it. Westbrook Strong!
