About this race

While coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies each December on National Wreaths Across America Day is a big part of what we do, Wreaths Across America's mission to Remember, Honor and Teach, is year round. From our Remembrance Tree Program to signing up a cemetery in your community to participate, or participating in the Annual Stem to Stone Race, there are many different ways in which you can get involved!

Wreaths Across America is continuing its Annual Stem to Stone Races in person and virtually in 2024! Join us in Columbia Falls, Maine, where the mission of Wreaths Across America will be on display through the 5K Run/Walk/Ruck and 10K Run, or from your own course at home. Each individual race registration sponsors a fresh balsam veteran’s wreath that will be placed on the headstone of an American hero on December 14, 2024, as part of National Wreaths Across America Day. During check out, registrants can designate the Sponsorship Group or participating Wreaths Across America Location they want their sponsored wreath allocated for placement.  Additionally, Virtual Participants can submit their results through text or email and show up in official results!

This unique event will be run, walked, or rucked entirely on the Balsam Valley tip land, and will be closed to traffic. This beautiful area is home to the fertile soil, clean Downeast air, and majestic balsam fir trees that grow the tips Wreaths Across America uses to make the veterans' wreaths that adorn the final resting places of our nation's fallen in December.

Whether you join us in-person in Maine, or from across the Nation or around the World, we hope this experience will help you learn more about the mission and those who have served and sacrificed for us to be free.

Wreaths Across America's Mission:

  • REMEMBER our fallen U.S. veterans.
  • HONOR those who serve.
  • TEACH your children the value of freedom.

While we have Veterans Day in the fall and Memorial Day in the spring, our servicemen and women sacrifice their time and safety every single day of the year to preserve our freedoms. And in many homes across the U.S., every day there is an empty seat for one who is serving, or one who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. That is why our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach lasts all year long, far beyond the single day in December when we coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies. All throughout the year, Wreaths Across America works in a number of ways to show our veterans and their families that we will not forget—we will never forget.
