Written from race data

The Paavo Nurmi Marathon and Half Marathon Relay, set for August 10, 2024, in Hurley, Wisconsin, offers a scenic and challenging running experience steeped in Finnish heritage. Named after the legendary Finnish runner, this event pays homage to his athletic prowess and the strong Finnish-American community in the Hurley area. The race typically unfolds on a course that winds through the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan, offering a blend of paved roads and potentially some gravel sections, depending on the exact route. Runners should be prepared for rolling hills, which contribute to the challenging nature of the terrain, as well as the possibility of variable weather conditions common to the region in August, such as sunshine, humidity, or even cooler temperatures.
