Race Staff
The Viking 5K, 10K, & Half Marathon, held at Veterans Memorial Park in Hudson, FL on August 17, 2024, is the first of its kind in what is hoped to become a recurring event. This race offers a choice of three distances – 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon – catering to a range of running abilities. While specific historical data for this inaugural "RD1 10K" is limited, participants can anticipate a well-organized event focused on community and athletic achievement. The park's setting suggests a likely blend of paved pathways and potentially some natural or unpaved trails, offering a varied running experience. Expect a scenic and likely warm August race day in Florida. The terrain at Veterans Memorial Park is generally flat and accessible, making it suitable for all participant levels, though the August heat and humidity are significant factors to prepare for. Participants should bring appropriate hydration and sun protection. The inclusion of multiple distances ensures that both casual runners and seasoned athletes can find a challenge. While specific awards or unique traditions for this first event are yet to be established, the "Viking" theme hints at a potentially spirited atmosphere.
