This individual age group/open event incorporates a two-lap main race followed by a single-lap time trial, testing both sustained effort and explosive power. While specific historical data isn't provided, the "B Race" designation typically suggests a challenging yet accessible course designed to appeal to a broad range of intermediate to advanced riders seeking a competitive yet enjoyable experience. Participants can expect a diverse riding experience on the trails around Lucas, KY. The terrain is generally characterized by rolling hills, wooded sections, and potentially some technical singletrack, typical of the Appalachian foothills. Expect a mix of climbs and descents, requiring good bike handling skills and physical fitness. Conditions on an August day can vary from warm and humid to potentially dusty, so riders should be prepared for a moderate to challenging environment. A notable feature of this event format is the inclusion of the time trial, which adds an exciting strategic element, allowing riders to gauge their pace over two laps and then push for their fastest possible time on the final solo effort.
