Message from the RunFest Race Directors
The 2023 race experience was extremely positive, with happy participants, and a smooth event. Given the challenges we had to overcome with low volunteer numbers and a shortfall in the local economy, we were thrilled to have put on such a high-quality event. The 2024 Anchorage RunFest promises to once again be a brilliant, competitive, and fun-filled event.

The Anchorage RunFest Humpy's Marathon Relay, scheduled for August 18, 2024, in Anchorage, Alaska, is an established and beloved event with a history rooted in community and challenging Alaskan terrain. This relay race offers participants the opportunity to experience the beauty of Anchorage while tackling a portion of a marathon course. Competitors can expect a well-organized event designed for teams, encouraging camaraderie and shared accomplishment. The "Event Type: 6" designation likely signifies the number of runners per team. Participants should prepare for a race that showcases Anchorage's natural splendor. The typical terrain is a mix of paved paths, often found along the scenic Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, offering stunning views of Cook Inlet and the surrounding mountains. While generally flat for a marathon course, runners might encounter some rolling hills, and Alaskan weather in August can be unpredictable, with possibilities of sunshine, rain, or even cooler temperatures. The relay format allows for diverse participation, from seasoned runners to those looking for a fun, team-oriented challenge. A notable feature of the Humpy's Marathon Relay is its connection to the local community and potentially Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse, implying a festive atmosphere and post-race celebrations. The Alaskan setting itself is a significant draw, offering a unique and memorable race experience that blends athletic endeavor with the rugged charm of the Last Frontier.
