Come enjoy the region's most scenic road race and enjoyable post-race parties! The Speedy Pd Race for Parkinson's disease is the primary event to benefit the Meadowlark Parkinson's Program. The Meadowlark Parkinson's Program provides free services for those in the Flint Hills and beyond! Programming includes exercise, education, and outreach to improve the quality of life for all those affected by Parkinson’s disease including patients, caregivers, therapists, and nurses.
This is the 16th year for the Speedy Pd Race for Parkinson's and we are excited to be running the USATF Certified 5k (3.1 miles) and 10k (6.2 miles) courses set in the beautiful Tuttle Creek State Park in Manhattan, Kansas. The Don Rasmussen 5K and 10K will start at 8 am. This year we are revamping our 1/2-mile event a little to honor all those we have lost to Parkinson's. This event is now the Pd Memorial Walk/Run.
The 16th annual Speedy Pd Don Rasmussen 5K/10K & Pd Memorial Walk/Run is a virtual event taking place on August 24, 2024. This event, located in Manhattan, KS, offers participants the flexibility to complete either a 5K or 10K run, or a memorial walk/run, from any location. While the traditional race has a history rooted in the Manhattan community, this year's virtual format allows for wider participation and a personalized race experience. Participants can expect a self-guided event where they can run or walk their chosen distance on their own schedule and chosen route. The typical terrain and conditions would usually be a road course in Manhattan, known for its rolling hills and potential for warm summer weather. However, as a virtual event, participants can select routes that suit their preferences and local environment. Notable features include the memorial aspect of the event, honoring the "Pd" legacy, and the opportunity to contribute to a cause while maintaining personal fitness goals.
