About this race

The Tour de Donut is a unique bicycle event, where your ability to eat donuts is just as important as your ability to ride your bicycle fast. The event is a mass start timed ride where riders visit donut stops and eat donuts. For each donut the rider eats during the ride (and keeps down) they have 5 minutes deducted from their ride time. There are prizes in several classes including  Tour de Donut championship jersey for the best adjusted "donut time". We also award the most donuts eaten in several classes.
This ride is intended to be fun and include all cyclists pro to amateur, triathletes, tourist, fitness riders, fun riders, or you can dust off that two-wheeler you found along the road, or in the back of the barn you are not going to want to miss this event.
While the event is a personal challenge, few consider it a serious competition, remember this is all in fun! We doubt the next Tour de France champion will have Tour de Donut Champion listed on his palmares, so eat some donuts and ride as fast or slow as you wish. All roads are open to traffic, and all traffic rules must be followed. Roads are marked with large custom donut markings (in several colors and some have sprinkles) so you do not get lost.

What to expect

Written from race data

The Tour De Donut Mini Recumbent, taking place on August 24, 2024, in Troy, Ohio, offers a unique cycling experience for recumbent enthusiasts. This event is a shorter iteration of the well-known Tour de Donut, a race with a humorous and challenging legacy that traditionally involves consuming donuts at aid stations. While the "Mini" designation suggests a less daunting distance at 19.70 miles, participants can anticipate the same spirit of fun and friendly competition that defines its larger counterpart. The race is categorized as an "Event Type: 6," which generally indicates a road cycling event. Participants should expect a relatively flat and fast course, typical of many Midwest road races, which will likely wind through scenic rural roads around Troy. Given the August date, warm to hot weather conditions are probable, so hydration and sun protection will be crucial. The "Recumbent" aspect means participants will be riding low-to-the-ground, fully supported bicycles, which offer a different riding dynamic than traditional upright bikes. While the "Donut" tradition is a key feature of the main event, it's important to confirm if the Mini version also incorporates this signature challenge, as it significantly impacts the strategy and overall experience. Regardless, the Tour De Donut Mini Recumbent promises a enjoyable and distinctive outing for recumbent cyclists.
