About this race

Join us for the annual Tupelo Marathon and 14.2 Miler race in Tupelo, MS. We are staying on the original course that made us famous!   The course is an out and back for the marathon runners on beautiful rolling country roads. For the 14.2 participants, it's a 13.1 mile run to the marathon turn-around and then a bonus 1.1 mile run to the finish. We're not charging extra for the bonus mile, so it's even a bigger bargain.  It's a 5:00am start but even with the early start expect some heat and humidity. We will have water stops and a few cheering spectators to help along the way.

Long sleeve tie dye race shirts are back this year! Registrants will receive race shirt and an award winning medallion if you finish.  Prizes will be awarded for overall, Masters, Grandmasters, and age group winners.  Entries will be capped at 150 for the Marathon and 300 in the 14.2 Miler.

Come join the fun and "Trample the Weak Hurdle the Dead" Sunday, September 1st at 5:00 am.

1. Refund considerations will be based on race cancellation.
2. Age limit 18 years for the Marathon and 16 years for the 14.2 Miler
3. Swapping of races is discouraged but if you sign up early and don't wait until the last minute, we might consider it.
4. No carry over of registrations to following year.
5. No transfers of entry to another person. Though it is hard to police this, if caught you will be banned and so will your substitute.

What to expect

Written from race data

The Tupelo Marathon and 14.2 Miler, set for September 1st, 2024, in Tupelo, Mississippi, offers runners a unique challenge and a chance to experience the heart of Northeast Mississippi. While specific historical details of this particular event are not provided, the "Tupelo Marathon" name suggests a potential connection to the city's rich history, possibly drawing inspiration from its significant role in American culture and heritage. Participants can anticipate a well-organized event catering to both marathoners and those opting for the distinct 14.2-mile distance, providing options for various levels of endurance. Runners should expect a course that winds through Tupelo, likely showcasing some of the city's scenic routes and potentially historic landmarks. The terrain is generally expected to be a mix of paved roads, characteristic of Southern city marathons, with potentially some rolling hills given the geographical location in Mississippi. Participants should be prepared for early September weather in Tupelo, which can be warm and humid, necessitating proper hydration and heat management. A notable feature of this race is the inclusion of the 14.2-mile distance, which is an uncommon but intriguing option for runners seeking a distance that falls between a half marathon and a full marathon, offering a unique goal for many.
