What to expect

Written from race data

The Tom Madzy 5K & Dog Walk is an annual event held in Berea, Ohio on September 29, 2024. This community-focused gathering offers both a competitive 5K race and a more relaxed 1-mile dog walk, catering to a variety of fitness levels and participants who wish to bring their canine companions. While specific details on its founding history are not provided, it's clear the event aims to bring people and their dogs together for a day of outdoor activity in a local setting. Participants in the Tom Madzy 5K can expect a well-organized road race through Berea. The 5K course is typically run on paved roads, offering a relatively flat and fast experience ideal for both seasoned runners aiming for personal bests and newcomers enjoying the challenge. The 1-mile Dog Walk follows a similar route, providing a leisurely pace for walkers and their leashed dogs to enjoy the scenic surroundings of Berea. Weather in late September in Ohio can be variable, so participants should be prepared for potentially mild to cool temperatures, and possibly some humidity. A notable feature of this event is its inclusion of a dedicated Dog Walk, making it a pet-friendly occasion. This aspect sets it apart from many standard running races and appeals to dog owners looking for an opportunity to exercise with their furry friends in a communal setting. The dual offering of a 5K and a shorter walk ensures that everyone, from serious runners to families with dogs, can participate and enjoy the spirit of the Tom Madzy event.
