AI Overview

The Race for Catherine 5K, a certified and timed event, will take place on October 13, 2024, in Newtown, CT (06470). This event is specifically geared towards youth participation. While specific details on its history aren't provided, the "Race for Catherine" designation suggests it may be an annual fundraising or awareness event dedicated to someone named Catherine, often with a charitable component. Participants can expect a well-organized 5K run with accurate timing, making it suitable for young runners looking to set personal bests or simply enjoy a competitive and fun racing experience. The typical terrain for a 5K in a Connecticut town like Newtown is often a mix of paved roads and potentially some park paths. Runners should anticipate a generally flat to gently rolling course, which is common for established road races, making it accessible for a wide range of ages and abilities within the youth demographic. Weather in mid-October in Connecticut can be varied, so participants should be prepared for potentially crisp autumn conditions, possibly with mild temperatures but also the possibility of cooler or rainier weather. The emphasis on it being "certified and timed" highlights a commitment to a professional race experience for young athletes.
