A 5k fundraiser for children at Pediatric Therapy Center to receive speech, occupational, and physical therapy as needed.
Included: a playground, music, disc golf, and small business tents
Our Why: A Walk with Walker started as a Walk FOR Walker while our son was in the hospital. We received so much love and support through it that truly touched our family. Fast forward to today and Walker now has Cerebral Palsy, going to three types of therapy three days a week at Pediatric Therapy Center, which has helped Walker meet so many huge milestones. Our weekly routine looks very similar to most of those with children of disabilities, and we have become abundantly aware of how hard it is to battle insurance for the amount of therapy needed. So many of my conversations with parents in waiting rooms are filled with the same frustration and heartache. For example, if you have an muscle injury, an allotted amount of 30- 60 sessions/days of physical therapy for the year typically should suffice, but if you have a disability, which is not something you can heal from, it doesn’t come close to enough. Therapy sessions can range from $125- $500+ depending on where you go. We have seen both sides of that spectrum. It adds up fast, but the need remains the same. It is not just a minor need either. This is the livelihood and independence of kiddos. Early intervention is crucial for the best chance of success, but many cannot afford to continue to pay out of pocket, unfortunately. I created this fundraiser to support parents in meeting the needs of their children with disabilities at Pediatric Therapy Center, so they have every opportunity to thrive.
