In 2024, we look forward to returning to DCR Fort Independence at Castle Island to celebrate Veterans Day weekend together on November 9! Race with us on one of the "fastest and flattest" race courses and stay for our famous "post-race feast" at the DAV 5K Boston. #VetsRunBoston
We are thrilled to be back at DCR Fort Independence at Castle Island and cannot wait to see you and all of our DAV 5K Boston friends and family on Veterans Day weekend. The DAV 5K Boston race committee is working with our municipal partners at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the DCR, State Police and the City of Boston to ensure a safe and responsible family-friendly event experience.
Due to overwhelmingly positive feedback, the DAV 5K Boston team will ship race kits, including your runner shirt and bib number, in advance to all participants to streamline your DAV 5K Boston race day experience. This makes for a more enjoyable race day experience as you can arrive at DCR Fort Independence already wearing your shirt and bib number so you're ready to race and have fun with your friends and family!
The DAV 5K Boston is a run, walk or roll that thanks those who served and raises awareness of the issues our ill and injured veterans face every day. This event helps further the mission of the DAV Department of Massachusetts to ensure our injured heroes are not alone on their road to recovery.
The DAV 5K Boston, held annually in Boston, MA, is a significant event supporting the Disabled American Veterans organization. While specific historical details of its founding are not provided, the recurring nature of this 5K signifies its established presence and commitment to its charitable mission. Participants can expect a well-organized community event focused on raising awareness and funds for veterans' services. The race typically draws a diverse crowd of runners, walkers, and supporters, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and gratitude. The Boston 5K course is generally known for its urban setting, often featuring a mix of paved roads within the city. Runners should anticipate a relatively flat terrain, making it suitable for both experienced athletes and casual participants aiming for a personal best or a leisurely stroll. Depending on the exact route, participants might experience city traffic management and enthusiastic crowds lining the streets. A notable feature of the DAV 5K series is its direct impact on the lives of veterans, with all proceeds benefiting programs that assist disabled veterans and their families with healthcare, employment, and other critical needs.
